The abdominoplasty or “tummy tuck” is without a doubt one of our most popular procedures to date. This surgery gives immediate results that are continual for over eight months- you literally just keep on shrinking! We always hear Dr. Nguyen ask our tummy tuck patients, “Am I your best friend yet?” Needless to say, Dr. Nguyen has a lot of best friends. If you’re thinking about getting an abdominoplasty, you definitely want to do as much research as possible so that you are well informed and know what to expect. This is one of the many reasons why we offer complementary consultations to our patients. The consultation process gives Dr. Nguyen a chance go through the entire surgical process, perform an exam, as well as show you a few before and after photos with previous patients who are similar in anatomy and body type.
So who is an ideal candidate for a tummy tuck? Patients with loose or sagging abdominal wall skin or abnormal relaxation of the anterior abdominal wall muscles; this is very common after pregnancies, prior surgeries, or major weight loss. Many individuals are unable to tighten their abdominal wall with exercise and find this procedure to be the perfect resolution. A tummy tuck is usually performed under general anesthesia in an outpatient surgical center, and patients are allowed to go home that day. During the procedure, Dr. Nguyen will liposuction the abdomen and flanks, as well as realign and tighten the abdominal wall. The incision is relatively low, goes from hip bone to hip bone, and can easily be hidden under panties or bikini bottoms. We also have an amazing scar cream that will do wonders, if you keep up with it!
After you leave the surgical center, you will have drains for about a week and be required to track your drainage for Dr. Nguyen. Once you reach a certain amount, we will remove your drains (this is usually 7-10 days post-surgery). We recommend taking it extremely easy for at least 2 days and then to start walking around, which will help get the fluid out faster. Light activity will be okay after about 2 weeks, and regular exercise after 6. You will see full results in about 6-8 months and can even track your progress with our Nutritionist for your ideal results!

I have been wanting a tummy tuck for 8 years! I even had a consult with Dr Nguyen a year or so ago and was really serious until my husband lost his job. I have had 4 kids and I have a relatively small frame but have a whole lot of excess skin on my stomach from pregnancies and weight loss/gain.
